The Story Behind "AIR"
There was a glimpse of my dreams and feelings that I wanted to capture, parts that live only in my imagination. During this project, I was going through major life changes and existential questions. I wanted to explore my feelings, the confusion and uncertainty, and I hoped that through this project, my feelings would be seen.
To create this concept, I decided to gather elements that felt like they could express what I feel, to myself and the viewer. So, I used plants, water, and old buildings to form a places contain my vision. But why "Air"? Simply, it's the main element I felt while creating this series and holds it together.
Each painting was built in three stages. First, I covered the canvas with random areas with big brushes and sprays, for the unpredictable beginning. These effects are not meant to be painted over; they stay and appear as strongly as the final touches. Then comes the composition: I placed the most important elements by covering some areas and leaving others, to create gradual tones that move between strength and softness. Finally, I finished every element, left what happened by accident and strengthened what was intentional, until finishing the painting.
